Our client, a well-established and beloved pub in East London, is seeking a dedicated Head Chef to lead the kitchen. As the Head Chef, you’ll have the opportunity to shape the menu and put your unique stamp on every dish served. From crafting seasonal specials to perfecting pub classics, you’ll oversee all aspects of the kitchen operations. Your leadership will play a pivotal role in maintaining the pub’s reputation for high-quality food while elevating the dining experience for our diverse clientele.

You’ll work closely with management to create a warm, welcoming atmosphere and ensure a smooth-running kitchen that aligns with the pub’s values and culinary standards.

  • Menu Creation: Design and develop an exciting menu that showcases traditional English dishes with a contemporary flair, using locally sourced ingredients.
  • Kitchen Management: Oversee daily kitchen operations, including scheduling, inventory management, and ordering supplies.
  • Food Quality: Ensure each dish is prepared to the highest standards, with consistent presentation and flavour.
  • Team Leadership: Train, mentor, and supervise a dedicated kitchen team, fostering a positive and productive working environment.
  • Cost Control: Manage food costs and waste, implementing measures to maintain profitability without compromising on quality.
  • Health & Safety: Adhere to all food safety regulations, maintaining a clean and organized kitchen and ensuring compliance with health standards.
  • Customer Engagement: Occasionally engage with guests to receive feedback on the menu and adapt dishes to meet the needs of the local community.


Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years as a Head Chef or Sous Chef in a pub or restaurant environment, with a strong background in British cuisine.
  • Leadership Skills: Ability to lead, motivate, and inspire a kitchen team, with excellent communication and organization skills.
  • Culinary Expertise: Passion for traditional and contemporary British food, with a keen sense of presentation and attention to detail.
  • Financial Acumen: Experience in managing kitchen budgets, stock control, and cost efficiency.
  • Adaptability: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handling high demand during peak times.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work weekends and evenings as required by the pub’s schedule.
